You're not alone. As an Army veteran myself, I understand the struggles and unique challenges that come with military life, whether it's the stress of deployment, reintegration into civilian life, or navigating trauma and loss. If you're dealing with any of these issues, therapy can offer a path forward.
I specialize in helping active-duty military, veterans, and their families navigate the difficulties of anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief.
My approach is compassionate, practical, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I create a space where you're heard without judgment and supported in making meaningful change.

Together, we’ll work at your pace to understand what’s holding you back and build the tools to move forward with strength and resilience.
We’ll focus on what works for you, whether that’s managing anxiety, processing grief, overcoming trauma, or simply finding more peace in daily life.
By uncovering how your past experiences shape your present, we’ll work together to develop healthier patterns for the future.
You don’t need to have it all figured out to start. Reaching out is the first step, and I’m here to walk with you from there.
Feeling disconnected from your mission or from yourself? Are you struggling to adjust to civilian life, manage stress, or cope with experiences from your service? Feel like no one truly understands what you’ve been through.
I help active-duty service members and veterans process trauma, reconnect with loved ones, and find peace in the present. Together, we’ll work on expressing your emotions, rebuilding trust, and navigating life after service without judgment and with deep respect for your journey.
Do you feel stuck in survival mode?
Are flashbacks, nightmares, or anxiety keeping you from living fully? Maybe you feel numb, angry, or constantly on edge and you’re tired of pretending everything’s fine.
Trauma doesn’t have to define your life. I help people safely process painful experiences, reduce emotional overwhelm, and reclaim their sense of safety and control. Whether your trauma is recent or decades old, healing is possible and you don’t have to do it alone.
Are you ready to stop reliving the past?
Do certain memories feel like they’re stuck on repeat, hijacking your thoughts and emotions? Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain reprocess trauma so it no longer holds you back.
I use EMDR to help clients move through painful memories, reduce anxiety, and find relief from PTSD, grief, and other emotional wounds. You don’t have to talk through every detail because EMDR works with your brain’s natural healing process to help you feel lighter, calmer, and more in control.
Feeling more like roommates than partners?
Are you struggling to feel connected to your partner? Do small disagreements turn into big arguments, or leave you feeling unheard and misunderstood? Maybe you're wondering how things got so distant or how to get back to the love you once shared.
I help couples rebuild trust, improve communication, and reconnect emotionally and physically. Whether you're navigating conflict, recovering from betrayal, or just feeling stuck, therapy can help you understand each other better, express your needs clearly, and rediscover the friendship and intimacy that brought you together.

Hi, I'm Heather Kilgore! I'm an Army veteran, and I specialize in supporting active-duty military, veterans, and their families learn more effective coping skills for managing their emotions and moods to improve their functioning in life and relationships.
I provide a space where you can feel heard and supported.
Use the contact page to reach out and get started. We will coordinate a free 15-minute phone call to discuss your needs and goals for therapy and determine if we're a good fit. From there, we'll coordinate scheduling for your sessions.
In your first therapy session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals for treatment. We will also talk about your medical history and any current symptoms you may be experiencing.
Therapy sessions are generally 50 minutes in length but can be adjusted based on individual needs and insurance company requirements, if using insurance.
The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs, goals, and insurance requirements when applicable. Many clients attend therapy once a week, while others may attend more or less frequently. We will work together to develop a personalized treatment plan.
I currently accept Aetna insurance. Please see my session pricing page for more information.
